6/24/2024 Week 24- I ate a Dude!?!

Our pday this week was a lot more fun, that's for sure. I mean we went to an antique store and walked around for a while. There was so much cool stuff, I ended up buying a sweet pair of boots!!

Tuesday was pretty good too, district council which led to us driving to the mission office... lets just say some Elders locked themselves out of their car and apartment. We ended the day by having really good brisket at our bishops house!! Then a member called us because her garage flooded :( so we headed over and helped clean that up.

Wednesday morning was just a continuation of the garage clean up. It was so fun because I love serving people and I got to put together a shelving unit :)) that satisfied my building instinct for the next few days.
We also had interviews with our President and well he told me we should do more service so I excited for that!!!

Thursday was a pretty uneventful day, just a bunch of planning and canceled lessons but that's alright :(

Friday was awesome!! We had a lesson with Joyce and taught her the plan of happiness which she loved! She loves learning about what we believe. We also had a lesson with Marren who's on date for the 29th! He's super excited for that and can't wait!! For dinner that night we went to DQ with a member and we got dudes? I guess they are only a Texas thing but it was good! He also took us around in his challenger which was super fun!

Saturday I got to do an exchange with Elder Wilson and well it was so much fun! We tried to do some service finding, basically just going door to door asking if people needed there trash taken our our lawn mowed. We weren't able to help anyone but we did meet a really nice guy who we are going to meet up with again!! We did end up going to Stephans house and mowing his lawn!!!

Sunday was pretty cool too, just the usual church and our dinner!

I swear this car is periwinkle but the picture makes it look blue :(

Week 23- Jesus Jeopordy 2.0?!?! 6/17/2024

Monday was a pretty laid back but fun pday, I mean just played pickleball at the church so not as fun as last transfer but that's alright... that night we did go get milkshakes with our friend Stephan. Man he's so awesome!

Tuesday was Zone our zone conference and of course it was great! It was focused on becoming Master teachers. One thing that stuck out to me is in Preach my Gospel where it mentions that Christ taught so many different ways based on who he was teaching. I think it is so applicable now with how different everyone is. We just need to continue loving and teaching how someone needs it.

Wednesday we had a really sweet lesson with our friend Joyce! She is so cool and loving. She mentioned she might come to church so hopefully she does!! We also got to go to the young men's activities that night!

Thursday so awesome! We had a lesson with Marren who referred himself a couple weeks ago. He's already committed to church twice and when we invited him to be baptized he said "I've been waiting for you to ask that" He's scheduled to be baptized on the 29th!!!

Friday we had a lesson with our friend Stacie and well it went super well, she loves learning more and wants to be baptized which is super cool! Other than that we just did a bunch of visits and for dinner we went over Stephan's and he cook some really good chicken salad and we played the Jesus Jeopordy game we made earlier in the day!

Saturday and Sunday were about the same, just more visits. We did help out with the bishops storehouse on Saturday morning which was fun!! It was like I was playing "store" like I did as a kid. Fathers day was awesome too, I mean they gave us cinnamon rolls so of course I was happy. Anyway just wanted to say I have the best Dad, he always lets me do the most random and stupid things and continues to sacrifice everything for our family. When I grow up I want to be a dad like him!!!

Happy Summer...almost!

6/10/2024 Week 22- Where's he going??

 Transfer week!!!!

I finally left the YSA 🥲. It was really hard leaving all the friends I made but I know there are a lot of great new people in my new ward! I'm now serving in the Fort Worth 5th ward!!

Before that... my last day in Denton sucked a lot just because it was my last day, we had a district breakfast which was awesome!! And then we went to Olive Garden for lunch?!?! Sister Westwood's family came to visit so they took the whole district out! That night was rough saying goodbye to everyone... but at least I didn't cry while with everyone. Might've done that later.

Anyway Thursday I found out I was going to Fort Worth!! Super excited for the many opportunities that will come this transfer. My new companion is Elder Messerly from Eden Utah. He's super cool! That night our Bishop took us out for BBQ, best way to introduce someone to the area. We also played basketball, I haven't played in a while and well I wasn't very good but that's alright.

Friday and Saturday were pretty slow, we tried to visit a bunch of people so I could meet them but most of them didn't answer. On Saturday we did end up helping with youth conference which was a lot of fun!! We were also able to watch a musical fireside that was put on by the stake youth!

Sunday was great as usual, we had to get up early for ward council but that's alright. It was my first Sunday in a regular ward since I left in January. It's a big change, a lot of crying kids... I missed that 🤣. My new ward is so awesome, all the people I've met this week are so cool!

Thought I'd start sharing my old posts I made a few years ago!!

Keep it up y'all,
Elder Thompson

6/5/2024 Week 21- Elder Rasband's Cousin!!!

The last week of the transfer!! This transfer was so flipping sweet!

Monday we put on a blitzball game with our ward which was super fun. I'm going to miss being around yound adults :( anyways later in the day one of our ward mission leaders put on a pool party... obviously we didn't go swimming but I still had a lot of fun!

Tuesday was a pretty normal day until we found out someone needed some help after the storm the previous night had blown over a bunch of her trees. We were able to go out and help which was a lot of fun. She fed us some sweet BBQ too so I won't complain. That night we taught our final institute class which I'm really sad about. It was really fun.

Wednesday we got have a lesson with Alex our recent convert. We were going over family history... Lets just say his great grandfather was a very famous revolutionary in Mexico. Like super famous.
Other that that we drove out to Saint Jo again, sadly our friend didn't answer, but we met someone new so that awesome!

Thursday we had Zone Conference with Elder James Rasband of the Seventy!! (his first cousin once removed is Elder Ronald Ransband of the Council of the 12) It was so cool to hear of all his experiences and what we can do better to improve our missionary service. I love hearing from church leaders! He's also from Northern California so that's cool. We also had volleyball that night and I pulled out a super slick outfit that everyone loved.

Friday was a lot of driving and visiting some inactive members in our ward. I love driving so I'm not complaining. We did get a chance to have a really cool lesson with one of the member families! We also had game night. Man I'm going to miss being in a YSA.

Saturday was filled with a lot more driving. We drove all the way up to Gainesville to visit some of our members. We stopped at a couple antique stores for our dinner break. Not to brag but I found an Olivia Rodrigo Sour album record for $3... I had to get it. We also had stake conference that night as well. We got to hear from President and Sister John, I'm totally not biased or anything but they are the best speakers!

Sunday we had stake conference and got to hear from Elder James Rasband again! He's so awesome. That evening we also had a why I believe fireside where a bunch of missionaries sang. It was amazing!

Monday was another day of visiting members in our ward. It's been down pouring like everyday this past week, that's fun to drive in. For FHE we played shaving cream twister... Basically twister but with a huge color mess afterwards.

Tuesday was so awesome!!! We took our recent convert Alex to the temple!!!! He's excited to being his own family names next time he goes! Later in the day we went a served and a lady's ranch cleaning out horse stalls? That was really fun!
